Toxicological Pathologist
UK - South East England | £ Dependent on Experience
A global organisation, renowned for their work in the chemical and environmental industry has retained Acre in the search for a Pathologist to join their R&D and Product Safety Group.
Providing technical expertise in the areas of toxicology, you will be working with third party groups in designing, conducting and managing studies to support regulatory submissions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing desk based studies to support new product registration
- Presenting on behalf of the group and wider business at external events and conferences
- Influencing the development of technical and techno-regulatory strategies
You will be a Veterinarian with a higher degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline. You will have experience in toxicological pathology, ideally in relation to regulatory studies and/or discovery.
Skills and experience required include:
- The ability to lead teams in the identification and design of studies
- Expertise to interpret the implication Xenobiotics have in product design and selection.
- Expertise in analysing complex data across individual and multiple studies
- A constant understanding of the latest scientific technologies

Conducting global environmental and human risk assessments across a diverse portfolio of projects including industrial and agricultural chemicals and biocides, your role will be supporting regulatory submissions for new and existing products, particularly in their registration for REACH.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting ecological risk assessments and assessing ecotoxicological data for clients and regulatory bodies
- Project managing internal teams and 3rd party groups
- Specifying, reviewing and delivering projects to deadlines whilst meeting customer needs
- Representing the customer and assessments to regulatory bodies
You will have a degree (or equivalent) in an environmental discipline or chemistry and biology and similar experience in a consultancy or regulatory body. You will also have:
- The expertise to conduct ecological risk assessments
- An in-depth understanding of EU regulatory framework around REACH, agricultural/industrial chemicals or biocides
- The adaptability to project manage and work on multiple cases at any one time
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Joining an established scientific group, you will be working closely with international regulators and research bodies, providing expertise on regulatory guidelines for plant and livestock metabolism studies.
You will be responsible for:
- Representing the department on integrated metabolism projects
- Advising the department on regulatory changes by attending cross industry working groups and method development meetings
- Working with external suppliers ensuring Syngenta’s needs are addressed
- Exploit collaborative project opportunities by building effective scientific relationships with internal and external groups
You will ideally have a Degree or PhD (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Biochemistry. Although experience in project management and project leadership is desirable, strong scientific knowledge of the area is more important than previous management experience.
You will also have:
- Between 2-5 years experience working in an ADME, environmental fate, or plant and livestock group
- The ability to complete projects whilst managing regulatory strategies and scientific challenges
- Strong influencing and communication skills, working effectively across various internal and external project teams
- The ability to deliver and formulate strategies to maintain the long term sustainability of the group’s capabilities
