Climate Change & Energy Director
USA - Oregon | $excellent
Global brand leader and innovator, committed to continuous investment and improvement, is seeking a talented and experienced individual to join the team as a Climate Change & Energy Director
You will take a leading role in creating an overall strategic and operational roadmap to reduce the organization’s carbon footprint over the next 3 years. Managing the co-ordination of all internal energy initiatives and carbon reduction commitments, you will be responsible for the following:
- Measuring the footprint; including creating a process to continuously improve data gathering and baseline accuracy
- Reducing the footprint; including creating enterprise-level and business unit specific strategies and business cases
- Modelling and forecasting business risk and opportunity; understanding carbon pricing and the potential direct or indirect impacts
You will have a background consisting of the following:
- 10 years+ in environmental engineering or energy strategy
- A strong understanding of the changing landscape of energy demand and supply challenges from a corporate perspective
- The ability to influence and coordinate different organizations internally
- A proven understanding of financial reporting of climate change and target numbers

My client provides energy procurement and energy contract management to a large number of organisations within South East England; approximately £300m worth of energy per year. The CRC Bureau Manager will take the lead in managing and developing customer energy reporting services; will hold primary responsibility on effective compliance with the CRC; and will market, expand and manage the delivery of services.
The CRC Bureau Manager will take overall responsibility on developing the Energy Bureau Service to provide energy management support to customers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing services in line with the CRC legislation requirements with regards to data collection, government reporting, procuring CRC allowances, forecasting emissions and potentially trading allowances
- Managing internal CRC requirements and compliance strategy
- Developing and maintaining the energy monitoring systems, including designing new report formats
- Managing the energy reporting team
- Maintaining an active awareness of the energy industry and significant national and international climate change policies
This position will play a pivotal role in expanding the organisation’s energy reporting services and revenue stream. The ideal individual will have extensive experience in the energy industry, previous experience may have been gained from working for an energy supplier, energy consultancy or bureau provider.
Experience and qualifications required:
- An in-depth understanding and grasp of CRC legislation requirements
- Highly developed IT skills
- Proven management ability
- Demonstrated customer focused outlook
- Relevant discipline degree (or equivalent)

Our client, a vibrant, fast-growing energy solutions firm focused on renewable energy development and energy efficiency, is seeking a senior candidate to lead the development, planning and execution of electrical & carbon measurement, verification, and the tracking of projects for their energy efficiency and demand reduction clients
You will be responsible for onsite work with clients, interfacing with their data centers and buildings management teams, and will be the primary lead for measurement and verification.
Duties will involve:
- Coordinating staff, contractors and client groups to develop and implement Measurement and Verification for energy efficiency and demand reduction programs
- Determining and verifying energy savings in accordance with established protocols and standards
- Preparing written reports for various audiences including senior management, third-party contractors, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders
- Following and participating with industry and legislative/regulatory developments to identify, understand, and influence changes that potentially impact MV&T standards, methods, and protocols
- Managing, training, and developing staff and contractors
Your skills and experience will include:
- Graduate in science, engineering business, law or finance
- In excess of five years experience in energy efficiency programs or measurement, verification and evaluation
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Solid understanding of utility regulatory compliance requirements
- Data Center M&V experience
- Energy Modeling

This company helps businesses manager their energy more intelligently, pay less for it, and also generate cash flow.
You will be integral in building the company’s presence in the UK market. You will use your established and generated network of contacts to educate and sell the demand response and energy efficient solution resulting in their commitment to the service.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Initiating and developing robust client relationships
- Generating and converting leads into profitable business
- Analysing energy & facilities data
- Proposing company’s service portfolio to solve customers’ energy management and business problems
- Preparing and presenting financial and sales proposals
- Contractual negotiation and closure
- Liaising with marketing
Understanding the mechanics of sales, you will have strong business acumen and the gravitas to build relationships with clients at all levels. Given sales targets to work to, you will be expected to not only meet these but exceed them growing the company’s presence and your remuneration.
My client is looking for candidates who have an outstanding education at Bachelors or ideally Masters level (or equivalent). Knowledge of the energy industry is desirable although it’s not essential; however a proven ability to use initiative and develop business is paramount.
