Andrew Cartland
Managing Director
Andrew is the Managing Director and Co-founder of Acre Resources, having established the company in 2003. Since this time, with the support of his colleagues, he has built Acre to be a globally recognised recruitment brand within the fields of sustainability, environment and energy.
Andrew has over 8 year’s recruitment experience, previously heading up the environmental assessment and ecological recruitment function at a leading green recruiter and establishing the environmental recruitment capability for a globally renowned engineering recruitment firm.
Andrew graduated from Swansea University in 1999 with an Honours Degree in Zoology and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. An enthusiastic environmentalist, he has worked on a variety of conservation projects including a Sumatran Rhino breeding project in Malaysia and Tropical Reef conservation in Barbados.

Consultant
Andrew sits on Acre’s Environmental Team and has significant experience recruiting into the property industry and built environment. He has undertaken a range of management level assignments within both the private and public sectors, particularly in the areas of town planning and regeneration.
Andrew has a BA in Environmental Management from Manchester University and has undertaken further study relation to investment and finance in property. He leads Acre’s work in the areas of environmental management and health safety and environment (HSE). Recent projects have included noise and acoustics, air quality and EIA assignments.

Associate
Ben has been with Acre since 2004 and has been responsible for the development and delivery of executive search assignments as well as preferred supplier account management with some of the largest global corporations.
Having studied Environmental Sciences he has a deep seated knowledge of the sustainability sector across oil and gas, retail and manufacturing. He now focuses on executive renewable energy and climate change positions where he has built a reputation for sourcing hard to find talent internationally. Successfully working on mandates in the USA, Mainland Europe and the Middle East he has a considerable record for recruiting in this fast growing sector.
Before joining Acre, Ben gained eight years of experience as a senior property consultant with an independent UK based company. Often providing industry comment, Ben is committed to sourcing talent for his clients quickly and discreetly.

Commercial Manager
Beth joined the Acre team in 2007 as Commercial Manager. A BScEcon Graduate from Cardiff University, Beth has over 10 years recruitment, management and training experience.
Beth’s expertise is in growing niche recruitment teams and has worked within start-ups and large PLCs in the UK. She specialises in developing recruitment strategy for clients and is responsible for Acre’s delivery and quality assurance.
Within Acre Beth has undertaken senior to director level hiring with an international focus, including the recent successful completion of search mandates in India, Germany and Dubai.

Marketing Manager
Bethany is Acre’s Marketing Manager and a Chartered Marketer. She manages all client advertising campaigns, project manages Acre’s sector research (the CSR Salary Survey and Carbon Salary Survey) and heads up Acre’s internal CR and sustainability activities.
Bethany has a BA Honours in history of fine and decorative arts from the University of Leeds. After 2 years working as a costume assistant on film and television productions around the UK, she joined Acre in 2006.

Consultant
Cameron completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in Marine Biology and Environmental Studies at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
He then immigrated to Australia in search of employment within the environment sector and became a Technical Project Officer for EnviroCom, an environmental consultancy firm servicing public and private sector clients.
At EnviroCom, Cameron provided guidance to the Eastern Seaboard of Australia in waste management and water saving initiatives. These were implemented through conducting research, supplying planning services, environmental education and training programs.
Cameron furthered his career in the waste industry at the London Borough of Newham where he was employed as a Supervisor within Refuse Collection. This large supervisory role was responsible for the day to day waste collection including but not limited to, domestic, trade, clinical, bulk, garden and recycling services.

Administrative Assistant
Eli is Acre’s Administrative and Team Assistant and supports our team in Finance, Marketing, Research and Data Management. She is currently studying for a BSc in Financial Mathematics, to add to her BA in Marketing and MA in Management.
Eli also plays competitive basketball for her University team and in the professional league EBL Division 1.

Senior Consultant
James completed a Bachelor of Commerce and a BSc majoring in Environmental Studies and Geography from Victoria University Wellington, New Zealand.
He then moved to WWF Australia, completing a number of roles within the Climate Change Team and played a key role in the Asia / Pacific Climate Change conference. Following this James successfully completed the graduate programme at Australia’s largest auction company and trained as a plant and machinery auctioneer, creating innovative online solutions for some of the largest organisations in Australia. James then relocated to China to assist in the launching and development of a successful auctioneering venture.
Joining Acre in 2008 gave James a chance to combine his previous experience in the sustainability sector with his commercial experience. His major focus is in the environmental, waste and energy from waste sectors.
Passionate about sustainability, James has completed volunteer work both in Australia and the UK on varied projects including restoring forests and fundraising at senior levels.

Non-executive Director
Jim is a non-executive director at Acre and primarily acts as a management consultant to companies who are looking to lead through the issue of climate change.
He has held a number of management positions, including CEO of the YO! Group and Managing Director of the London Office of RPS, and he works with both the private sector and the legislators on the interplay between climate policy and the market.
Jim represents Acre in climate change forums such as the Aldersgate Group, and assists with policy pieces such as the Acre submission for the Environment Audit Committee in May 2009.John Cartland
Non-executive Director
John Cartland is a retired telecommunications executive having held positions with several North American corporations including Digital Equipment Corporation and Nortel Networks where his most recent positions were those of Vice President Corporate Compensation and Vice President of Human Resources for Europe Africa and the Middle East.
Since retirement he has co-authored two books, sat as Vice Chair of Artsline London and continues to mentor board members of two of London's major disability charities. He is an active Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Freeman of the City of London.
John joined Acre as a non-executive Director in 2006.Karyn Peacocke
Consultant
Karyn works within Acre's Climate Change and Energy team, and focuses on Energy Management and Carbon Reduction. She works with a broad range of global clients to source energy and carbon manager, Life Cycle Assessment specialists and energy efficiency experts.
Prior to joining Acre, she built her recruitment knowledge and expertise in the Canadian market, working within one of the largest global recruitment firms. She was working with a diverse portfolio of clients, from SMEs to large corporations, in addition to managing a successful team of consultants in Toronto.

Consultant
Kate sits on Acre's Environmental team focusing on Ecology, EIA and Sustainable Design. She brings with her extensive knowledge of recruitment within the built environment and technical industries including Consulting Engineering and Architecture. Kate has a high level of expertise and knowledge recruiting professionals into strategic roles around the UK, Europe and UAE.
Kate has a Bachelor of Business with a double major in Marketing obtained from the Queensland University of Technology and holds an MREC in responsible recruitment standards. She is passionate about her community and as a qualified dance instructor she works with children and adults of all ages to teach self expression, confidence and practical fitness.

Lydia heads up Acre’s Contract and Interim services, working on roles across the sustainability, environment and climate change and energy sectors. Prior to joining Acre, she was working with FTSE, Blue Chip and SME’s across various sectors for a leading financial recruitment firm.
Lydia is a graduate in Geography from the University of London, where she concentrated much of her research on sustainability within the developing world. Joining Acre has allowed her to put her professional experience in to an area that she is incredibly passionate about.

Senior Consultant
Martin joined Acre at the beginning of 2009 bringing with him over 9 years experience of recruiting into the financial services sector in London. During this time he created unique recruitment strategies for some of the world’s largest investment firms. He moved to the United States in 2008 and started with Acre to work with clients and candidates that share his ardent interest in global climate change and sustainability issues.
Martin leads our US office in Chicago, recruiting positions across CR, sustainability and climate change.
Martin also serves on the Net Impact leadership team as VP of Professional Development for the Chicago Professional Chapter.

Lead Researcher
Mary is the Lead Researcher on Acre’s Executive Search team, working on projects across all CR, climate change and environment business streams.
After a year living in Italy studying the language and culture at the University of Foreigners, Mary returned to the UK to study Philosophy at the University of Leeds. An environmental ethics module within this degree first established her interest in sustainability, and Mary’s position at Acre allows her to combine this passion with her communication and research skills.Michael Leathes
Non-executive Director
Michael Leathes became a Non-executive Director at Acre in 2006. He is the (pro bono) Executive Director of the International Mediation Institute (IMI), an international foundation in The Hague established to certify the competency of mediators to common standards worldwide. He is also a practicing mediator.
During a 37-year career, Michael has held a series of in-house corporate legal roles including General Counsel of Pfizer International, Legal Director of International Distiller & Vintners (IDV) and Head of Intellectual Property at BAT. He spent some time while in the drinks business as President of IDV’s EurAsia Region and while in the pharmaceutical industry as Secretary General of the Animal Health Institute, a European trade federation.Nadia Walsh

Nadia is a consultant on Acre’s CR and Sustainability team with expertise in a range of areas including ethical supply chain and governance. She has worked on numerous high-profile recruits for FTSE100/250s, retail/ FMCG and not-for-profits.
Prior to joining Acre, Nadia worked for a highly-regarded built environment recruitment company, and has a wealth of knowledge of the green space on an international scale.
Gaining a first in her degree studies at University of Melbourne, Nadia has also successfully completed the MREC qualification for recruiters. She is currently enrolled at Staffordshire University, studying towards a post-graduate qualification in Sustainability and Environmental Management, which will deepen her understanding of the industry.

Olga joined Acre in 2008 as Financial Controller. After graduating with a degree in Business Studies in the Canary Islands she went on to further her studies in the UK, attaining additional accountancy qualifications.

Senior Consultant
Olivia joined Acre in 2007 and sits within the Climate Change and Energy team. Olivia specialises in carbon management, energy management and sustainability within the built environment. In particular, she has built a considerable track record in recruiting specialists in the global carbon markets. This includes CDM/JI specialists and she has completed assignments in the US, UK, Mainland Europe, South America and Asia on behalf of global utility, aggregate and carbon project developers (amongst others).
Following her completion of an Honours Degree in Applied Biology from Newcastle University, Olivia worked in PR and then advertising where she worked with some of the UK’s leading brands to develop their below and above the line communications. Moving to the BBC she then worked as a project manager on the restructure of their marketing and communication division. This previous experience has given her a sound insight into the public and private sector, excellent project management and account management skills and the ability to build strong, robust client relationships.

Rufus is an Associate with over eight years experience working with the world’s largest brands, consultancies and NGOs in corporate responsibility and sustainability. Rufus’s experience in marketing and business development within this space provides him with the commercial understanding and global network required to recruit at the highest levels.
Previously, he co-founded a global employee engagement programme, partnering major corporate clients to work with NGOs on community projects in six different countries. Combine this with his experience in the renewable energy industry and Rufus has a broad reach and strong reputation in all areas of sustainability, particularly at director and senior management level search.

Career Coach
Shannon Houde, MBA, is a career coach with a focus on helping sustainability professionals match their values and skills to viable career options in the corporate responsibility and sustainability fields. She has chosen sustainability career coaching to combine her experience as a hiring manager, a life coach and a CSR consultant, after having started her career 16 years ago in corporate recruiting.
Shannon has mentored and trained professionals in the field of CSR for more than 7 years with a focus on writing CVs as marketing tools, matching personal values to career paths, and interviewing with impact. She combines a wealth of knowledge from 10 years’ managing cross-cultural teams and CSR projects in Asia, Europe, North and South America in both non-profit and corporate environments. Shannon’s experience as a CSR consultant gives her insight to the staffing needs of companies across diverse industries. She has managed consulting projects for FTSE 250 companies such as Altria, Barclays Global Investors, Cadbury Schweppes, Deloitte, EMI, L’Oreal, Nokia, Reuters, UNICEF, Vodafone Group, WWF, and Yell.
Shannon holds an MBA in International Management, with a focus on CSR, from Thunderbird in Arizona as well as a BS in Sociology from the University of Colorado. Simone sits on Acre’s Climate Change and Energy team, and focuses on renewable energy and clean tech assignments. Prior to joining Acre, she built her expertise and knowledge within one of the largest global recruitment firms, managing a portfolio of clients from SMEs to large corporations.
Simone has a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Human Resource Management and Economics from the University of Sydney, and began her career in the travel sector, managing a successful team for a well-known global organisation in Australia.
Simone has lived and worked in a range of locations in Europe, Australasia and North America and is passionate about climate change and its impact upon all countries throughout the world.

Tom co-founded Acre with Andrew Cartland in 2004, after three years working in climate change and corporate responsibility consulting.
As a Director at Acre from 2004 to 2008, Tom worked with the Acre team to build the company’s core client base around the world, and led our market leading research programmes and brand development.
Moving to a non-executive position in 2008, Tom is now engaged in innovative internet marketing strategies for leading brands, and continues to work with the Acre Board to drive our commercial strategy forward.
