Engineering Manager - Alternative Fuel
UK - Nottingham or East Anglia | Up to £50 000 + bonus + excellent benefits
A high profile Aim listed renewable energy company is currently going through a major expansion phase and is recruiting an Engineering Manager. The organisation specialises in the refining of waste cooking oil and generating power from this waste.
The main purpose of the role is to maximise engine performance and ensure the most efficient utilisation of resources. Responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring all engines are serviced and maintained
- Continually updating all financial, legislative, and administrative reports and processes
- Designing and managing Service Level Agreements with a number of subcontracting teams
- Liaising with customers and tailoring solutions and support to fit requirements
- Ensuring Health and Safety compliance on all sites
This position will require a mix of technical, management, and commercial skills; the successful candidate will have:
- Extensive experience in electrical or mechanical engineering
- A proven track record in power generation and in particular reciprocating engines and the SCADA system
- Strong commercial skills with the ability to implement and maintain budgets
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage teams of subcontractors

A long established waste company, well known in the region, is currently undergoing a major operational review. This will result in enhanced efficiency and improved business processes therefore they are now seeking a Site Operations Manager to maintain and improve site performance.
This is a critical role for the success of the business and the key focus of the roll will be health and safety, environmental performance, people management, cost, and efficiency. A senior management role this position will report directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities will include:
- Day to day people management of over 20 staff including responsibility for their health and safety
- Ensuring the smooth management and regular maintenance of plant and machinery including two sorting lines
- Management of site budget and the monitoring and improvement of extraction rates
- Maintaining all site documentation
- Liaising with third parties including partnership companies, local councils, and the Environment Agency
This will be a demanding role working in a high pressure environment. There is large scale investment planned so the successful candidate will take a pragmatic approach to site management.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience in a site management role in a waste / recycling environment
- Knowledge of and the ability to manage a budget and all onsite documentation
- Strong people management skills and the ability to build relationships with a range of interest groups
- A strong practical background in and knowledge of health and safety legislation
Those with a WAMITAB qualification and a background in engineering or technical discipline would be of particular interest.
This role will require a self starter who can lead a team by example. You will be expected to approach your work with a ‘can do’ attitude, identifying potential issues and implementing solutions. Strong communication skills are a must.

A new fund has recently been created to assist and facilitate investment into this area and an Investment Bid Assessor is required to ensure the viability of potential projects. This is a vital role within the organisation and will play a critical function in the investment decisions made on high profile, multi million pound projects.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Assessing investment proposals against financial, commercial, and technical criteria
- Identifying suitable investment opportunities and assisting with business cases
- Acting as a contact point for a small portfolio of projects
- Monitoring the progress of projects against agreed parameters
- Developing relationships within the industry and keeping abreast of the market and legislative drivers
Essential requirements include:
- An investment background including risk and return assessments
- Practical experience with financial modeling and forecasting
- Expression of interest and business case preparation experience
- A finance related degree (or equivalent)
- A background in early stage funding is highly desirable
Knowledge of a broad range of environmental concepts including waste, recycling, energy, climate change and accompanying legislation is an advantage.

One of the most respected retailers in the UK is now looking to recruit two Recycling Operations Managers to oversee the in store recycling. One position will focus across the north and one in the south of the UK. With over 2000 sites nationwide, this role will focus particularly on the implementation of a new recycling technology which is critical for the organisation.
Responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring collection efficiency and costs across the stores are as low as possible through effective scheduling
- Managing store and collection issues across the region specifically in regards to contamination
- Liaise with third party collection suppliers
- Ensuring the maintenance and upgrade of recycling machinery
- Looking to market trends and customer uptake to enhance future direction of recycling initiatives
This position will require a background including both recycling and retail experience. The successful candidate will have:

My client currently has a strong client base in the construction sector and is looking to both develop this further and diversify into new growth markets. Reporting directly to the General Manager this is a senior leadership role within the organisation and responsibilities will include:
- Creating and continually updating a sales plan to include market and sector analysis, targets, and competitor analysis
- Implementing, developing and maintaining a “selling price” matrix for all income streams
- Providing a regular commercial report and providing detailed statistical performance reports
- Leading the sales team and conducting regular sales meetings to bring in new business and develop existing relationships
Essential requirements:
