Site Operations Manager – Scrap Metal

UK - Luton | Up to £30000 + Benefits

A global scrap metal company with a growing profile in the UK is recruiting for a driven and enthusiastic Site Operations Manager to maintain and improve site performance. This company has recently received a multi million pound investment and is now taking the next step in its development to take advantage of new markets.

This is a critical role for the success of the business and the key focus of the roll will be health and safety, environmental performance, people management, cost, and efficiency. A senior management role this position will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Day to day people management of over 16 staff including responsibility for their health and safety
  • Ensuring the smooth management and regular maintenance of plant and machinery
  • Management of site budget and the monitoring and improvement of processes
  • Maintaining all site documentation
  • Liaising with third parties including suppliers, partnership companies, and internally

This will be a demanding role working in a high pressure environment. There is large scale investment planned so the successful candidate will take a pragmatic approach to site management.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in a site management role in a waste / recycling environment
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to build relationships with a range of interest groups
  • A strong practical background in and knowledge of health and safety legislation

Those with a machinery / forklift licence and a background in scrap metals would be of particular interest.

This position will require a self starter who can lead a team by example. You will be expected to approach your work with a ‘can do’ attitude, identifying potential issues and implementing solutions. Strong communication skills are a must.

UK - North East | £25,000 + Car + Commission

A high profile organisation, established for over 50 years is currently going through a major investment phase. This multi million pound infrastructure development will revolutionise the business and its service offering and provide diversification, and a total waste solution for clients.

This organisation is seeking a driven experienced waste sales professional to develop the existing client base and successfully sell the new offering. This is an exciting opportunity to break new ground in the waste market and potential opportunities moving forward to grow and develop within the business are substantial.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Engaging suitable targets in the current client base and identifying new clients
  • Creating and implementing price matrices as new streams come on board
  • Making initial contact with sales leads, closing meetings, and taking clients through the full sales cycle
  • Continually developing new and existing networks and renegotiating contracts
  • Completing and updating all sales documentation

Essential requirements:

  • Proven waste sales experience and a successful track record
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Determination, tenacity and enthusiasm and the ability to learn
  • The drive to be successful and the desire for continual improvement
  • The ability to form strong and durable relationships with clients
  • A background in waste management is desirable

One of the longest established waste companies in the UK has recently undergone a major operational review, resulting in enhanced efficiency and improved business processes. They are now seeking a Commercial Manager to maximise the advantages which have been created and to produce and implement a new commercial plan.

My client currently has a strong client base in the construction sector and is looking to both develop this further and diversify into new growth markets. Reporting directly to the General Manager this is a senior leadership role within the organisation and responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and continually updating a sales plan to include market and sector analysis, targets, and competitor analysis
  • Implementing, developing and maintaining a “selling price” matrix for all income streams
  • Providing a regular commercial report and providing detailed statistical performance reports
  • Leading the sales team and conducting regular sales meetings to bring in new business and develop existing relationships

Essential requirements:

  • Ability to manage a sales team, create KPIs and put in place processes to ensure targets are reached
